Greg and Brenda Hamilton started Pistos Ranch in 2013 on 240 acres south of Louisburg, Kansas. Pistos is a Greek word used extensively in the New Testament that translates as “Faithful” or “Faithful Follower”. We strive each day to be a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We run our ranching operation to be good stewards of the land, the resources it provides and the animals we are privileged enough to work around and care for. The best days are the ones where you can see God’s hand at work on our ranch.
For the first 7 years, the ranch was used as a commercial Angus cow/calf operation exclusively. Registered Texas Longhorns were introduced to the operation in the Spring of 2020, purchasing 6 bred cows and heifers from 2 different ranches in the Texas Hill Country. We can’t thank John Hever enough for all his work on helping to assemble our herd and HH and HL Ranches for allowing us to select just wonderful Longhorn animals to begin our herd. The goal of the herd is to develop beautiful animals that are a pleasure to watch in the pasture and have a diversity of color and horn – all bearing the gentle disposition that is trademark of Texas Longhorns. Our first calf crop hit the ground in the Spring/Summer of 2020 and there are plenty of pictures on the website to view these great animals. 4 of our 2020 calves were sired by McCombs Ranch bred RM High Hopes. We thank the great folks at Hired Hand for helping build the website and get our story and our Longhorns out on the internet. If your ever in or around NE Kansas and have time, please stop in and take a look around. Contact Greg at 816-678-8850.
